Where do You Find your Strength?

Lately, I’ve really been thinking about the power of our words.

The things that we say can give life or give death. Our words can really change our situation. Today, I really want to focus on something simple: The power in the name of JESUS.

We don’t always have to have an answer. At time, we can get caught up in trying to always be smart enough, have all the right answers, etc, but sometimes, we just need to speak the name of Jesus.

I know this because I’ve experienced it first-hand.

2017 was a rough year for my health. Every time I ate something, I felt immense pain afterwards. Doctor after doctor would examine me, but none of them could figure out just quite what was wrong, which was frustrating (to say the least). It was maddening. Why couldn’t anyone figure out what was wrong?

Later in the year, I started getting ready for an international trip. It was a women’s conference that I had the honor of speaking at and I was leading a group of women to attend.

The day before we were scheduled to leave, I found myself in the Emergency Room. I kept questioning myself, wondering if I should even go. I kept telling my husband that I shouldn’t travel 7,000 miles with this uncertainty and constant pain.

He simply began speaking life into me. It was something I couldn’t do for myself in that moment.

Do you feel like you can’t speak life over yourself? I’d encourage you to each out to somebody that you know can speak life into you.

Maybe you’re on the opposite side. Maybe you’re in a season where you feel really strong. I’d encourage you to offer that to someone else and speak life into them. Reach out to others and help someone. We need those words of life now more than ever to sustain ourselves.

And the simplicity of it is this: All we have to do is call upon the name of Jesus.

Let’s look at Proverbs 18:10. It says “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.”

Run into the name of Jesus today! Run into His name into His strength! When our strength is weak, He makes us strong.

In Nehemiah 8:10, it says “…And do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.

Whether you’ve just begun your day or it’s about to end, I encourage you right now to find joy in the Lord. He’s there for us. He’s never changed. He’s the same yesterday, today, and forever! He’s still moving mountains today. He is still good!

It says in Deuteronomy 31:8 “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

He is with you!

Today, I have a challenge for you that I think will really help you. It’s a STAY POSITIVE challenge that I really think will make an impact on you.

For today, get rid of all distractions. From the news to your phone,  turn off anything that will grab your attention today and focus on these three things instead:

  • Have faith in God’s plan and declare His word over your life. If you’ve never read the Bible before and don’t know where to stay, scroll back to the beginning of this blog and write down the three scriptures I referenced earlier. Start with those and speak those into your life. (Proverbs 18:10, Nehemiah 8:10, and Deuteronomy 31:8).
  • Give thanks while focusing on helping others. When we can take the focus off of our own situation, it lifts the burden.
  • LAUGH. There is joy in laughter. Laughter will bring you UP and it will bring you OUT! You know, as I was jogging with my husband yesterday, he turned around to me and asked “have you laughed today?” I thought it was so out of the blue, but once I reflected on my very busy day, I realized I really hadn’t laughed that day! Take a moment to find something funny and laugh!

I’d encourage you to listen to this song. It’s called Graves Into Gardens and it’s by Elevation Worship. Listen to it and declare that there’s nothing better than the Lord!
